알기 전에는 몰랐지만 알고 나면 그 음식으로밖에 보이지 않는 유쾌한 시각적 반전을 담은 프로젝트 시리즈로, 첫 테마는 삼겹살구이 한 상을 미드 센츄리 모던 감성으로 재해석하여 아트북과 디자인 포스터로 만들어내었다.

This project began the day I noticed how a simple plate of ssamjang, garlic, and chili peppers at a K-barbecue place reminded me of a mid-century-modern poster. I wondered how fun it would be to reinterpret food as interior elements, so I started experimenting.
In pieces like “Scallion Salad,” I imagined clean lines and simple color combinations—graphic and elegant—until the moment someone casually says, “Oh, that’s scallion salad,” and suddenly you can’t see anything else. I wanted to create images that flip your perception like that: once you know, you can’t unsee the food behind them.
I chose samgyeopsal (K-barbeque/but pork. It is cheaper than beef. Easy to access, commonly chosen) as the first theme because, at least for me, soju and grilled pork belly are tied to the moments where we laugh, vent, and share stories—regardless of age, it always feels like a tiny snapshot of youth. That feeling seemed to fit naturally with the main palette of this series.
언젠가 고깃집에서 본 하얀 접시에 담긴 쌈장과 마늘과 고추에서 미드 센추리 모던 스타일에서 많이 나오는 포스터가 연상되었고 음식을 인테리어 요소에 적용시켜 풀어보면 재미있겠다 싶어 시작한 프로젝트.
예를 들면 이 테마의 그림 중에 "파채 무침" 같이, 단순한 선과 색의 조합의 그래픽적인 그림으로 생각했는데
집 주인이 우아하게 "파채 무침"이에요 라고 하는 순간,파채 무침으로 밖에 안 보이는 유쾌한 그림,
알기 전에는 몰랐는데 알고 나면 그 것으로 밖에 보이지 않는 그런 그림을 그려보고 싶었다.
첫번째 테마로 삼겹살을 선택한 것은 삶의 희노애락의 순간에 만나 이야기를 나눌 때 우리들이 주로 나누는 것이 소주와 삼겹살이라는 조합이라서, 삼겹살과 소주를 마실 때는 왠지 나이와 상관 없이 청춘이라는 순간에 있는 기분이 들기 때문에 (개인적인 생각일지도 모르지만) 이 그림의 메인 팔레트와 어울린다고 생각했기 때문이다.
